Testing

Your Impact

Human testing finds implementation gaps by noticing errors which automated tests can’t catch.

Automated testing can catch code omissions but it can’t take the place of people who care. Human testing considers context, use cases, and special accommodations. With human attention on accessibility, we can empathize with all users.

What You Can Do

Care for Louisiana’s People

Even if the website is built by a vendor, we still need to care for the people who will use it. We help by doing simple tests on the vendor’s deliverable.

Know that Accessibility is for People

It’s easy to think that users are just an abstract concept, but users are really other people who we must consider in our work.

Ensure Accessibility

If someone can’t use a website, they might be in danger of not getting what they need. We can’t let that happen.

Know that People are Different

Not everyone thinks the same or has the same needs. What works for one person might not be enough for another person.

Require Accessibility

It’s the law and it’s the right thing to do. As public servants, we must obey the law and care for people.

Put Users First

Digital products are built for users, not state employees or vendors. User needs come first.

Accessibility Standards

Accessibility guidelines and standards aren’t unique to Louisiana. They’re established by industry leaders, government regulations, and academic research.
